1. Introduction
Monisy ("we," "our," or "us") is a personal finance management application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data. This Privacy Policy explains what information Monisy collects, how it is used, stored, and protected, and your rights regarding your data.
By downloading, installing, or using Monisy, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Financial Data You Enter
Monisy allows you to manually enter financial information to track your personal finances. This includes:
- Transaction details (amounts, descriptions, dates, categories)
- Account names and balances
- Budget amounts and categories
- Savings goal names, target amounts, and contributions
- Recurring transaction rules
- Currency preferences and exchange rates
2.2 App Usage Data
To improve the app experience, Monisy may collect:
- App settings and preferences (theme selection, notification preferences, language)
- Feature usage patterns (which screens are visited, which features are used)
- Device information (device model, operating system version, app version)
2.3 Purchase Data
If you subscribe to Monisy Premium, purchase data is processed by Google Play Store or Apple App Store. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not directly collect or store your payment information (credit card numbers, bank accounts, etc.).
2.4 Data We Do NOT Collect
Monisy does NOT collect:
- Bank account credentials or login information
- Credit card or debit card numbers
- Social Security numbers or government identification
- Location data (GPS, network-based location)
- Contact lists, call logs, or SMS messages
- Photos, camera data, or microphone recordings
- Advertising identifiers for ad targeting
- Data from other apps on your device
3. How Your Data Is Stored
3.1 Local Storage Only
All financial data you enter into Monisy is stored LOCALLY on your device using an encrypted SQLite database. Your financial data is never uploaded to our servers or any third-party servers.
3.2 No Cloud Sync
Monisy does not currently offer cloud synchronization. Your data exists only on the device where you entered it.
3.3 Data Backup
Monisy offers a manual backup feature that creates a local backup file on your device. This file remains on your device and is under your control. We do not have access to your backup files.
3.4 Security PIN and Biometrics
Monisy offers optional PIN and biometric (fingerprint/face) protection to prevent unauthorized access to your data. Your PIN is stored in encrypted secure storage on your device. We do not have access to your PIN or biometric data.
4. How We Use Your Data
4.1 Core App Functionality
Your financial data is used exclusively to provide the app's features:
- Displaying account balances and transaction history
- Calculating budget progress and spending summaries
- Tracking savings goal progress
- Generating financial insights and spending predictions
- Providing AI-powered category suggestions
- Detecting unusual spending patterns
- Sending local notifications about budgets, goals, and reminders
- Displaying home screen widget information
4.2 All Processing Is On-Device
All data analysis, AI features (auto-categorization, financial insights, spending predictions, anomaly detection), and calculations are performed entirely on your device. No data is sent to external servers or AI services for processing.
4.3 App Improvement
Anonymized, aggregated usage data (not your financial data) may be used to understand which features are most popular and to improve the app experience.
5. Third-Party Services
5.1 RevenueCat
Monisy uses RevenueCat to manage Premium subscriptions. RevenueCat processes subscription status and purchase receipts from Google Play and Apple App Store. RevenueCat does not have access to your financial data entered in the app. RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy.
5.2 Google Play Store / Apple App Store
If you purchase Monisy Premium, the transaction is processed by Google Play (Android) or Apple App Store (iOS). These platforms handle all payment processing. Their respective privacy policies apply to payment data.
5.3 No Advertising
Monisy does not display advertisements and does not share any data with advertising networks or data brokers.
5.4 No Analytics SDKs
Monisy does not integrate third-party analytics SDKs that track user behavior across apps.
6. Data Sharing
We do NOT sell, rent, trade, or share your personal or financial data with any third parties for marketing, advertising, or any other purposes.
Your data may only be disclosed if:
- Required by law, legal process, or government request
- Necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Monisy, its users, or the public
7. Data Retention
7.1 Your Data
Your financial data remains on your device for as long as you keep it there. You can delete individual transactions, accounts, budgets, goals, or all data at any time through the app's Data Management settings.
7.2 Subscription Data
If you subscribe to Premium, subscription status information is retained by RevenueCat and the respective app store for the duration of your subscription and as required by applicable financial reporting laws.
8. Your Rights and Choices
8.1 Access and Control
You have full control over your data at all times:
- View all your data directly within the app
- Edit or delete any transaction, account, budget, or goal
- Export your data via CSV or PDF reports
- Create manual backups of your data
- Clear all data using the "Clear Data" function in Settings
8.2 Notifications
You can enable or disable any notification type in the app's Notification Settings.
8.3 App Lock
You can enable or disable PIN and biometric protection in Security Settings.
8.4 Data Deletion
You can delete all your data at any time by using the "Clear Data" option in Settings > Data Management. Uninstalling the app also removes all locally stored data from your device.
9. Children's Privacy
Monisy is not directed at children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.
10. International Users
Monisy is available worldwide. Since all data is stored locally on your device, your data remains in your jurisdiction and is subject to your local data protection laws. We comply with applicable data protection regulations including, where applicable, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), and other regional privacy laws.
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA): The legal basis for processing your data is your consent (by using the app) and the necessity of processing for the performance of the service. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and to object to processing of your data.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy within the app and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of Monisy after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
